Auckland Marathon

November 1, 2026Marathon217 m

The pull here is the Auckland Harbour Bridge, a motorway with no footpath that runners get one Sunday a year. Race day is 1 November, late spring, sitting 12 to 18 degrees with about a 40 percent chance of rain off the Tasman. Entry is open, no ballot. Two honest catches: the bridge ramp climbs 33 metres while you are still cold, and the waterfront back half has more lumps than the flat reputation suggests.

Better info coming — we're still verifying 4 fields on this race.

Why we'd pick it

  • The 217 m climbing estimate is useful for planning, not a verified pacing number.
  • Open · Direct entry — no lottery to lose.
  • A non-racing partner gets a real weekend here — 4/5.
  • Race day usually sits 12–18°C, about 40% chance of rain.

The course

Starts on the North Shore around Devonport and Takapuna, joins the Busway, and climbs the Auckland Harbour Bridge, a motorway with no footpath that runners get one Sunday a year, hitting the 33 m high point before dropping to Westhaven and the Viaduct at halfway. Scenic along the waterfront, but the bridge ramp early and a few harbourside rises keep it honest.
