Race weekend board

Build the weekend around the hard part.

Every race weekend has a different failure point. Tell us who is coming and what the hotel must solve; the board changes the base, spectator plan, and race-day timing.

01 / Your role
02 / What should the hotel solve?

Your strongest base

Earlier Grant Park pin, not Columbus and Monroe

Near the start

Why this result · This base matches “I’m racing” and “Start logistics” more strongly than the other authored options.

The FAQ puts the start at Columbus Drive and Monroe Drive in Grant Park. OpenStreetMap returned no intersection for that pair on 4 November 2026. This pin is the earlier catalog coordinate, not a new survey.

Race morning
Runners: park, gear, and corrals open 5:30 a.m. on the Sunday schedule. Wave 1 corrals close 7:20 a.m.
Reunion
Not the finish.

Tradeoff: Grant Park opens to spectators at 9:30 a.m., after the waves have started. A start hotel does not mean a start view.

Course timing signal

Official headquarters hotel.

Hilton Chicago

The participant page names Hilton Chicago at 720 S. Michigan Avenue as the headquarters hotel. OpenStreetMap places Chicago Hilton & Towers at that address. hilton.com did not return a page on this check.

Consider: The Sunday schedule opens Grant Park to spectators at 9:30 a.m. The hotel is not the start mat. A later gear window at the Grand Tradition Room sits in a section that still says 4 December 2026, so we are not confirming it for 2027.

Address printed on the Chicago Marathon participant page, opened 4 November 2026. The hotel site returned 403 from this check.

Laflin, then the finish street

The only mid-course street with a mile on the participant page is a tent, and that page still contains 2026 dates elsewhere.

  1. Mile 15+2:17

    Laflin Street

The participant page does not name a CTA stop here.

Lactation tent on Laflin between Adams and Jackson at miles 15 and 16. The FAQ says 20 aid stations, about one to two miles apart, and does not name their streets.

  2. Mile 26.2+4:00

Columbus Drive south of Balbo Drive

The FAQ recommends the CTA and does not name a station for the mat.

Finish location from the FAQ. Grant Park opens to spectators at 9:30 a.m., so the 7:35 wave is not a viewing plan inside the park.

Meetup: Do not invent a Lincoln Park corner. It was not on these pages.

Chicago is Sunday 10 October 2027. The start is Columbus and Monroe in Grant Park, and the finish is Columbus south of Balbo. The limit is 6 hours 30 minutes. Non-charity entry is $250 or $260 before the processing fee, and the general application date in this record has passed. There is no GPX, and we still do not have a surveyed pin for that start intersection.

The FAQ, opened 4 November 2026, says the 49th running is Sunday 10 October 2027. The start is Grant Park at Columbus Drive and Monroe Drive. The finish is Columbus Drive south of Balbo Drive. Time limit 6 hours 30 minutes. The participant page prints a Sunday schedule and says the times can change. No GPX. We do not have a surveyed pin for the Columbus and Monroe intersection.

Why we'd pick it

  • The 57 m climbing estimate is useful for planning, not a verified pacing number.
  • The ballot is closed for this edition.
  • A non-racing partner gets a real weekend here — 5/5.
  • Race day usually sits 10.9–18.4°C, about 36% chance of rain.

The course

The 2027 FAQ places the start in Grant Park at Columbus Drive and Monroe Drive and the finish on Columbus Drive south of Balbo Drive. The time limit is 6 hours 30 minutes. There are 20 aid stations. No GPX was on the FAQ. The Columbus and Monroe intersection did not geocode, so the stored start pin is the earlier Grant Park coordinate. The 57 m and 30 m figures stay historical.
