TCS Amsterdam Marathon

October 18, 2026Marathon30 m

Amsterdam is one of the flattest, fastest marathons in Europe, maxing out near 10 meters of elevation, with the start and finish inside the 1928 Olympic Stadium. The men's course record sits at 2:03:31. Mid-October runs 9 to 15 degrees, cool and good for a PR, but it rains on roughly 17 October days and the long Amstel out-and-back is exposed if a headwind picks up. We'd note the 32,000 marathon places sell out months early.

Better info coming — we're still verifying 2 fields on this race.

Why we'd pick it

  • The 30 m climbing estimate is useful for planning, not a verified pacing number.
  • The organizer reports the field sold out; direct entry is no longer available.
  • A non-racing partner gets a real weekend here — 5/5.
  • Race day usually sits 9–15°C, about 55% chance of rain.

The course

Start and finish inside the 1928 Olympic Stadium, with a flat loop through Vondelpark and a long out-and-back along the Amstel river. Maximum elevation is about 10 meters, so it's one of the flattest, fastest courses in Europe — the men's record stands at 2:03:31. The downside is the Amstel river stretch, exposed and monotonous if a headwind sets in.
