Major weekend operating notes
01 · Course load
The work is banked. The final shakeout should confirm the legs and equipment, not imitate the course.
02 · Weather range
Use the trip to rehearse layers and timing, not to chase one last fitness gain in unfamiliar conditions.
03 · Race-week win
Walking the city, expo queues, and poor sleep all count as load. Budget them like training, because your legs do.
You're traveling into Tokyo on a taper, not a training block, so the goal is to stay loose, not to chase fitness you already banked. Two or three easy 20–30 minute shakeouts is plenty.
Jet lag wrecks sleep more than legs. Get morning light, keep the last day before the race flat and boring, and don't test the local nightlife the night before — that's a rookie mistake that shows up at 30km.
